Regulated Prop Firms: Match the Entity, Activity and Permission

The word regulated needs an entity, jurisdiction, activity and dated evidence. A licence number beside a brand does not by itself establish that the specific service you are considering is covered. This is a due-diligence worksheet, not a legal determination about a provider.

Write the precise claim to be checked

Record the legal entity named in the agreement and the activity for which authorisation is claimed. The FCA describes its Financial Services Register as a record of firms and people currently or previously authorised or registered for relevant activities. Its Firm Checker is designed to check a firm and the services it has permission to provide.

An ordinary company-registration entry answers a different question from a financial-services permission. A software platform’s authorisation also does not automatically cover every separate company using it. Retain the exact identifier, status and activity rather than a cropped logo.

Handle a fictional identity mismatch

Suppose an offer names Example Trading Ltd while a supplied number refers to Example Advisory Ltd. The similarity of the names does not complete the match. Add the official contact details and exact entity to the worksheet, then leave the claim unresolved until the records align.

This page has not performed a register search for HashHedge or concluded that its service requires or holds a particular UK permission. Its contractual entity and personal availability still need their own review. An empty or ambiguous name search would not establish a universal legal conclusion.

Keep decision criteria and legal status separate

This site’s existing invalidation worksheet helps define what evidence would change a research conclusion. Use similarly explicit criteria for a due-diligence claim, while referring legal questions to a qualified professional in the relevant jurisdiction.

The sponsored link to HashHedge is not a regulatory endorsement. If a required entity, permission or service match cannot be established, retain that gap before any purchase. This article does not replace a regulator or promise consumer protection.
